12 Inch Dog Bone Boat Trailer Keel Rollers also known as Sydney rollers; are crafted from solid HDPE Polyethylene, ensuring durability in the harshest environments.
Unlike rubber rollers, these Sydney-style plastic rollers resist splitting and cracking, making them highly reliable. Perfect for aluminium boats and trailers, the 12 Inch size suits larger vessels.
Each boat roller features a standard 25mm bore and is precision-machined to order. For custom bore sizes, please contact us prior to purchase.
What’s the Difference Between Blue, Red & Black Boat Rollers?
Blue Boat Rollers: Blue rollers are made from HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene), a hard and durable plastic ideal for aluminium boat hulls. They reduce friction and support heavier loads during launching and retrieval.
Red Boat Rollers: Red rollers are made from soft polyurethane. Their softer surface is perfect for fiberglass boats, helping protect the hull from scratches or wear.
Black Boat Rollers: Typically made from rubber, these are a lower-quality option. While usable with both aluminium and fiberglass hulls, rubber rollers tend to wear quickly and can mark the hull. For best results, choose blue or red based on your boat type.
How Many Keel Rollers Do I Need?
There’s no exact number, as every boat and trailer setup is different. A simple rule is: the more keel rollers, the better.
Up to 70% of your boat’s weight rests on the keel, so having multiple high-quality keel rollers provides better support and stability during launching, loading, and towing.
We recommend using enough rollers to evenly support the keel along its length, especially for larger or heavier boats.
How Many Self Centering Keel Rollers Are Needed?
In most cases, you only need one self-centering keel roller. The unique angled design of this roller helps guide your boat into the correct position during retrieval.
This type of roller is typically installed in the central position of your trailer to assist in aligning the boat with minimal effort.
For larger boats or difficult loading conditions, a second self-centering roller may help, but it's generally not necessary. Look at our centering kits instead!
