  1. Check your trailer tires for wear, dry rot and make sure they have the correct amount of air pressure in them and be sure the tread is sufficient and that there are no cracks, bubbles or gouges in the rubber. If your tires are dry rotted, you will need to replace them as soon as possible. Old tires are tired, so replace them and avoid a costly and dangerous blowout.   5. Check springs, shackles and bushings for wear and corrosion. Replace these trailer parts as necessary.
  6. Check all your trailer lights. The plug must be in good working condition, turn signals and brake lights are essential they work properly. All marker lights must work properly, repair or replace these as necessary. Check the trailers lights system for proper operation, make sure wires are in good condition. If repairs need to be made, have them done well in advance of your trip to avoid injury and to alert other drivers of your intentions when driving.
